Breastfeeding is Picking Up Traction

On any given day you might sit at your laptop, type in breastfeeding, because why not, and you’ll see a whole range of posts dated 2017, 2014, 2012!

However, in 2018 breastfeeding seems to be gaining traction in the UK media. Which is just fabulous!

I have given GAP my standing ovation for their new breastfeeding advert. I have joined in the conversation with the Loose Women Ladies and thanked ITV news for picking up the conversation on breastfeeding, all while creating some unique breastfeeding clothes for my beautiful customers!

I’m happy 😃

How to Breastfeed Discreetly in Normal Clothes

So you’ve had a look around the internet and your local high street stores, and for the life of you, you cannot find anything to wear. Now, it’s not because you’re fussy and it’s not because the dress code for an event is too specific, it’s because you’re a mama to a new baby and you’re committed to breastfeeding that little bundle of joy!

There are no clothes available for you, none that are reasonably priced or beautiful enough for your style.

We get it, that’s why we started Chic + Discreet. Go check out our shop to see our inexpensive breastfeeding tees.

To tired to keep shopping right now? That’s fine, the shop will be there when you perk up a little bit. Keep reading though because we are sharing a super simple tip to turn your normal clothes into your best breastfeeding pieces.

You’re going to have at least two layers on at any point so this advice is best for cooler climates.

You will need:

  • Underwear – your breastfeeding bra
  • Underlayer – a camisole or vest with stretchy straps or a tube top / boob tube.
  • Outer layer – t-shirt, blouse or jumper

Put everything on in the order suggested above.

When you’re ready to breastfeed, pull the under layer down below your breasts.

Pull the outer layer up above your breast.

Flip down your bra.

And tah dah- you’re now able to feed freely.

This is great in the cooler months because you can layer up. This method of feeding works similar to our I’m Still A Tees t-shirts.

How To Create Breastfeeding Clothes Out Of Your Everyday Wardrobe!

Don’t want to buy more Nursing Clothes? Cropped Jumpers are a breastfeeding essential!

Well, no! I’m not going to go out in the winter at all! How am I going to feed the baby. I don’t want my nipples to freeze!

Is something I said all too often while I was still pregnant and completely clueless about breastfeeding!

I envisioned myself wearing my nursing vest under a puffa coat and having to get my nips out in the middle of the road, while I get covered in truck loads of snow!

I know that is a bit extreme! But I really didn’t know what to expect!

So I’ve been working on some Breastfeeding Style Hacks to share with you!

Why Should I Get Excited About This?

Well, because cropped jumpers already compliment most wardrobes! And they totally make sense post breastfeeding.

If you have one, you’re mostly set this winter! If you don’t, get one!

And get a good one, so that is does make sense post breastfeeding.

Pair with high waisted … anything! To keep tum as covered up as possible. Tuck in your H&M nursing vest and you’re good to go!

You’re simply going to pull the crop jumper up (only a little because it is cropped – yay) and pull your nursing vest down under your boob!

Voila!

I’m Fine Whipping My Boob Out – I Don’t Need To Do This!

Even in the cold? Okay!

But what about abroad?

👆🏾As A Mummy On The Go – to foreign countries! I think cropped jumpers are invaluable! You never know what the climate for breastfeeding is abroad! So why not go discreet with out absolutely faffing like a mad man with a breastfeeding cover!

We’re lusting over this combo!

The crop and the shorts?

No, no!

The outfit and the beauty!

Here’s Three Beautifully Chic Diaper / Nappy Bags

It’s a hard job trying to find chic and discreet looking diaper bags. Internet searches always yield results that look like that bag was made for a child to take to school.

For a long enough time diaper bags have been ruining the aesthetic of the chic, modern Mum!

But I’ve taken a stand and found three beautifully chic and discreet looking diaper bags for whatever your budget.

You, Darling Girl, are most welcome!

Chaneen ✨

Jem + Bae Jemima Grey, £265

Multi-award winning luxury accessories brand Jem + Bea was launched in 2015. Each bag is designed to be modern, fashion-led and luxurious, offering something different, such as a mini clutch, a fresh and unique colour or a hands-free option. We absolutely love all of their designs, especially their original, the Jemima (pictured). If you’ve got that little bit of extra cash, to invest… because let’s face it, it is an investment, you’ll still be using these bags long after your buba is out of diapers and off formula.

Pacapod Changing Bag Croydon Black, £115

Pacapod have designed their bags to make your life as a mother even simpler. Think about all those time you need something, you want to reach it quickly, easily and with a degree of confidence, right? And there is nothing worse than rooting around a bag looking for the elusive wipes or a nappy bag only to be confronted with a half eaten sandwich.

Well Thank God for Pacapod, each bag comes with a 3-in-1 function. The beautiful bag, a pod for baby and a pod for you! How absolutely clever.

Colourland Diaper Bag Black, £36 (Backpack)

Colourland diaper bags are made to be affordable and good quality. Now, I personally opted for a Colourland bag because, as much as I love-love-love the other bags, I am all about affordability. These bags are designed with the modern mum in mind. They feature insulation inside and a removable changing mat.

Everytime I head out with my colourland bag, I feel so chic because I could just be carrying a normal handbag around with me.
