Choker: Mamas best friend

Choker: Mamas best friend
Around her neck, tight like tape, sat a small velvet choker.
Now, I tell you this because I was as fascinated by the choker as much as the baby was. She finessed the look of a badass beauty in nothing but said choker, a oversized velvet tee, denim jeans and black leather vans.
She was badass, but she was so good with the baby.
And, OMG I was not the only one with raised eyebrows when she slid over the velvet panel and released her breast to baby.
Now, I don’t quite know why all eyebrows were raised, but for me, it was because I didn’t know she was a mama. I thought maybe the baby was a friend’s baby or a niece.
She didn’t look like a Mum.
She looked so alive, so vibrant. So young!
Just one simple choker and one secret t-shirt panel and all assumptions were binned.

Fancy Pants

Fancy Pants
The baby rubbed his little round face over and over again into the women’s bosom. Each time the curls that hung over his forehead flattened and bounced back up. Flattened and bounced back up.
The smile on his face said that he loved the feel of her soft cotton sweater. It was simple and plain, and from this distance you could just make out a darkened little invisible fold across the jumper’s front; an invisible zip!
She was a breastfeeder.
But she didn’t look like a Mum. That’s sounds bad, doesn’t it. I just mean, she wasn’t… plain, or tired and rushed looking. She shone with the brightness of a million sequins and popped with the colour of her fire-engine red lips.
Man, she pulled off beauty and life better than I did and I worked in media. We’re supposed to be the quirkiest of the bunch.
Of course you will want your baby to be cuddled up to soft and warm Cotton material, but who’s to say that you can’t have a bad ass bottom.
Dress Up any baby safe and simple outfit but adding a shine and sparkle to your bottoms.
Whether you’re wearing satin, silk, sequins or spikes (be careful with lap sitting) you can go from ‘she’s a Mum’ to ‘she’s a badass beauty’ in no time.

How to Breastfeed Discreetly in Normal Clothes

So you’ve had a look around the internet and your local high street stores, and for the life of you, you cannot find anything to wear. Now, it’s not because you’re fussy and it’s not because the dress code for an event is too specific, it’s because you’re a mama to a new baby and you’re committed to breastfeeding that little bundle of joy!

There are no clothes available for you, none that are reasonably priced or beautiful enough for your style.

We get it, that’s why we started Chic + Discreet. Go check out our shop to see our inexpensive breastfeeding tees.

To tired to keep shopping right now? That’s fine, the shop will be there when you perk up a little bit. Keep reading though because we are sharing a super simple tip to turn your normal clothes into your best breastfeeding pieces.

You’re going to have at least two layers on at any point so this advice is best for cooler climates.

You will need:

  • Underwear – your breastfeeding bra
  • Underlayer – a camisole or vest with stretchy straps or a tube top / boob tube.
  • Outer layer – t-shirt, blouse or jumper

Put everything on in the order suggested above.

When you’re ready to breastfeed, pull the under layer down below your breasts.

Pull the outer layer up above your breast.

Flip down your bra.

And tah dah- you’re now able to feed freely.

This is great in the cooler months because you can layer up. This method of feeding works similar to our I’m Still A Tees t-shirts.

How To Create Breastfeeding Clothes Out Of Your Everyday Wardrobe!

Don’t want to buy more Nursing Clothes? Cropped Jumpers are a breastfeeding essential!

Well, no! I’m not going to go out in the winter at all! How am I going to feed the baby. I don’t want my nipples to freeze!

Is something I said all too often while I was still pregnant and completely clueless about breastfeeding!

I envisioned myself wearing my nursing vest under a puffa coat and having to get my nips out in the middle of the road, while I get covered in truck loads of snow!

I know that is a bit extreme! But I really didn’t know what to expect!

So I’ve been working on some Breastfeeding Style Hacks to share with you!

Why Should I Get Excited About This?

Well, because cropped jumpers already compliment most wardrobes! And they totally make sense post breastfeeding.

If you have one, you’re mostly set this winter! If you don’t, get one!

And get a good one, so that is does make sense post breastfeeding.

Pair with high waisted … anything! To keep tum as covered up as possible. Tuck in your H&M nursing vest and you’re good to go!

You’re simply going to pull the crop jumper up (only a little because it is cropped – yay) and pull your nursing vest down under your boob!

Voila!

I’m Fine Whipping My Boob Out – I Don’t Need To Do This!

Even in the cold? Okay!

But what about abroad?

👆🏾As A Mummy On The Go – to foreign countries! I think cropped jumpers are invaluable! You never know what the climate for breastfeeding is abroad! So why not go discreet with out absolutely faffing like a mad man with a breastfeeding cover!

We’re lusting over this combo!

The crop and the shorts?

No, no!

The outfit and the beauty!

Style Tip: How To Look Good As A New Mum

Because, let’s face it, you will barely find time to shower!

LEARN HOW TO TIE A TURBAN

Apparently, according to VOGUE:

it’s this season’s short-cut to glamour. But it is your short cut to everything!

Bad hair month. Covered.

Untouched roots. Covered.

Overgrown braids. Covered.

Hair thinning. Covered.

No, literally! Your head will be covered. And it is the easiest thing to fling on while you’re trying to get the hang of new-mummyhood. And beyond!

You won’t even need to ask for forgiveness for your appearance. You’ll have people asking how you manage to stay so chic when you haven’t had any sleep.

Fashion: Breastfeeding / Nursing Style Tip

WEAR DUNGAREES TO BREASTFEED DISCREETLY AND TOTES CHIC-LY

Dungarees and Jumper Chic + Discreet
Glasses EA Eyewear

Dungarees are a controversial piece of any wardrobe, apparently.

I learned a long time ago, way before the prospect of motherhood that it was a staple piece for moms. Now I know why!

_____________________________________________________________

Dungarees make it easy to breastfeed discreetly. Just pull the front panel over and secretly feed to the side. No cleavage, no side boob, no exposed nips!

Wear your dungarees without anything underneath. Simply throw on a bomber or a blazer (goodness, why does fashion have to sound so dangerous?) and you’re good to go!

In the colder months, chuck on a crop jumper underneath or a hoodie over the top.

And go, go and be free beauties, be free to feed in chic comfort!
